BigBird Armistice Day Shield
A field of 20 took to the course to compete for the first BigBird Armistice Shield, the Double Bubble format was used and excellent scores reflected throughout the field considering the 25mph Southerly wind blowing up the course. Played in conjunction this year with Tommy Houchin's 60th birthday the 5 groups of 4 seemed to have a good time and comment of the day came from G-Spot walking off the 5th shouting he got 6 points on that hole and still came 2nd, on further inspection of the cards Arfur also got double bubble on the 5th and birdied it for a 3 for 8pts.
From the 20 entrants, an entry fee of £5 was charged with the proceeds being split 50/50 between the Winner and the British Legion Poppy Appeal, so this year we donated £50 to the appeal, next year let's hope we can get more entries and thus more money for the Appeal.
The winner with a superb 52 points was Glen Harman who pocketed the 50 quid winnings of which out of that in true BigBird tradition he can pay for the engraving of the shield. 2nd was new boy on the block and son of reigning Freebie champion, Phil Wright, Harvey who was playing off of an estimated handicap of 12 due to not yet having an offical handicap (cough, bandit) 3rd was Stu Pearce who struck his irons like a dream throughout his round and if he didn't have to use his putter or woods, would probably have pissed it.
A big thanks to all who competed for such a good cause.
The results are as follows
